Hello Kids Toothpaste Class Action Lawsuit

A lawsuit has been filed against Colgate-Palmolive alleging that its Hello Kids toothpaste line contains “substantial” levels of lead despite being marketed as safe for children. According to the complaint, independent testing reportedly found elevated lead levels across multiple flavors of the toothpaste, raising concerns about whether the product is appropriate for pediatric use.

Plaintiffs claim the company misled consumers by presenting the toothpaste as child-friendly and safe, arguing that parents purchased the product believing it met standards for children’s oral-care products. The lawsuit asserts that if consumers had been aware of the alleged lead content, they would not have purchased the toothpaste or would have paid significantly less.

The case, filed in California federal court, seeks to represent a nationwide class of consumers who purchased Hello Kids toothpaste during the relevant period. Allegations include violations of consumer protection statutes and false advertising laws, and the lawsuit seeks injunctive relief, damages and reforms to product labeling and testing practices.

Because the allegations involve a widely distributed children’s product and a contaminant with known health risks, a broader class action may develop as more consumers come forward or additional testing is conducted.
