A new class action lawsuit alleges that Allstate Corp. and its subsidiaries illegally collected data on trillions of miles of consumers’ driving — and sold it to third parties.
The lawsuit asserts, Allstate conspired to covertly collect and sell huge amounts of consumers’ driving data and personal data, which included geolocation data, accelerometer data, magnetometer data, gyroscopic data, altitude, longitude, latitude, bearing, Global Positioning System (GPS) time, speed and accuracy.
The lawsuit states Allstate profited from selling consumers’ driving and personal data to third parties, including other insurance carriers, and supporting its own insurance business.
