Hamburger Helper Accused of Falsely Advertising Ingredients
A new class action lawsuit alleges Eagle Family Foods falsely advertises that its Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper products are made with real cheese.
Plaintiffs argue the name of each of the Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper products contains a variation of the word “cheese,” along with a claim on their front package that they are “Made with Real Cheese,” and, in all but one case, a claim that they contain a “Creamy & Cheesy Sauce” — all while actually containing less than 2% real cheese.
“The Product names combined with representations made on the front box of each Product is meant to and does give the impression that the Products are made with more than a de minimis amount of real cheese,” the Tuna Helper class action states.
The lawsuit further asserts Eagle Family Foods is guilty of breach of warranty and violations of California consumer protection laws.
