TEMU Accused of Collecting Data Beyond What is Necessary and Disclosed
There is an ongoing class action lawsuit against Whaleco Inc., doing business as Temu, and PDD Holdings Inc., formerly known as Pinduoduo Inc.
Temu is seeking arbitration in a class action lawsuit filed against the Chinese-owned online shopping platform over claims it collects more data from users than necessary.
A group of consumers who are plaintiffs in the Temu class action claim the company not only collects more data than necessary but also in a greater amount than what is disclosed to the public.
Temu argues the users agreed to individually arbitrate any disputes relating to service when they first signed up. However, experts determined Temu has “gone to great lengths” to conceal alleged privacy violations from its users so it can continue to steal their data.
